Why Are So Many Companies Opting For Trade Show Exhibit Rentals?
Trade show rentals are becoming an increasingly attractive option as more and more exhibitors are opting to rent instead of purchasing a booth. But is renting for everybody? Have a look at some of the positives and negatives on renting an exhibit.
The advantages of renting start with the price. As a general rule of thumb a display rental will cost about one third of the purchase price. Let’s examine some of the pros and cons of renting. Other advantages include: 1). Someone else has to worry about storing the exhibit, not you, 2). Any damage to the exhibit won't be your concern. Well, for clarification shipping damage is always a concern especially if the damage can’t be repaired in time for the start of the show but afterwards it will be the exhibit rental company that has to have the repairs done. 3) On the subject of damage it won't be your concern if a union forklift driver rams into the exhibit crate. 4). The rental company will take care of show labor for you. Electrical services will still be your responsibility but the exhibit house will handle the installation and dismantling. 5). You can leave when the show ends or even sneak out a little before it's over because you don't have to worry about the tear down and shipping arrangements. The bottom line is that there is a huge convenience factor.
The disadvantages of trade show display rentals, especially with the lower end models, has to do with design options. It’s hard to beat a well designed custom exhibit that incorporates company colors and show requirements.The show contractor will offer rentals that look much the same. There is always the risk that you will have rented the same exact booth as your show neighbor. The carpet provided by the show may be worn. Renting from an outside rental company may alleviate some of these concerns since they will have different inventory. In addition, an exhibit company that is privately owned will likely have higher standards and properties in better condition. My suggestion for companies preferring to rent is to order a booth with a lot of graphics. It’s going to cost more but the graphics will give it a custom look. Keep in mind that you will end up paying more for your exhibit program if you do a lot of shows and rent for all of them. For many, however, this is offset by the freedom to just show up before the trade show begins and to promptly leave when it is over.
